Plett Agility Club
Cornerway House is one of Plettenberg Bay’s pet-friendly establishments and we really do love animals!
Plettenberg Bay now has its very own Agility Club. Plett Agility is a newly affiliated SADAA (South African Dog Agility Association, established in 2011) club and hosted its first dog show at Kurland Pavilion in February this year. Plett AgilityIt is a growing group of dog agility enthusiasts under the guidance of canine agility guru, Brett Clark. Brett and some other dedicated handlers have been working on getting the club up and running since its inception in December 2012.
Agility is a sport enjoyed by the dogs, their handlers and all spectators. Some have even progressed so quickly they are competing in trials – which are held across the country. A great fun way to bond with your dog, no matter size or breed. Regional trials are to be held on the 4-6th of July, this event attracts dog handlers from all over the country and it will be held at our Kurland Polo field here in Plettenberg Bay – the perfect setting!
Agility is a very good alternative to rid your dog of his excess energy and it encourages dogs to think. Both you and your dog will benefit from this fun way of exercise. These agility courses are set up so that the dog is not able to complete it without the help of his handler, he relies on verbal and hand instructions. This strengthens the bond between you and your best mate! Agility courses are designed to re-enact and mimic the types of natural scenarios that require and fulfil your dog’s natural instincts.
The Plett Agility group invites dogs of all breeds, shapes and sizes to try out this fun sport. Contact Conrad – convanton@gmail.com or Tricia – stussydog8@gmail.com for more information.
