No more candles for Cornerway
Cornerway House goes solar
From now on, candles will only be used for ambience at Cornerway House as the four-star bed and breakfast has recently installed solar panels, hybrid inverters and lithium-ion batteries!
It’s been a long time since we wrote a blog for the website but we just had to share this good news! We’re ready to embrace summer and welcome our guests – with the lights on.
We have made some changes around the B&B and, for the first time since we opened 20 years ago, we made the decision to close our doors for the month of May. However, it was with two good reasons. Firstly, lucky Kathy went on holiday to New Zealand for her daughter’s wedding and this seemed like the ideal time to make the most of sun-kissed Plettenberg Bay and go solar. We did a bit of maintenance and the solar chaps worked their magic to ensure that our wonderful guests are always comfortable, even during loadshedding.
For your comfort and convenience, we’ve installed 20 x 540W Mono Percium Solar Panels with 5 x 6.14kWh Lithium-Ion Batteries and two Deye 8kW Hybrid Inverters so there will be no more sitting in the dark, unless you choose to! We’re all for candlelit dinners but we’re also all for a cooked breakfast, a warm shower, and good WiFi. And that, along with the environmental benefits of going off-grid, is the reason that we made the change.
As Kathy says, “We can confidently say that there will always be light, hot showers, WiFi and hot drinks for our guests at Cornerway House.”
We hope to see you soon, warm regards,
Kathy & Dee
