WHAT’S HAPPENING THIS PLETT SUMMER?
Plett Summer has arrived and with it carloads and planeloads full of holiday-makers! Plettenberg Bay is one of South Africa’s hottest summer destinations (although, there’s a good argument to be made for the quieter spring, winter and autumn seasons) and the town hums with activity for the months of December and January, which is our South African summer. If you’re visiting Plett this summer or considering a visit next year, here are just some of the exciting summer highlights to tempt you:
OUTDOOR MUSIC VENUES
What would a summer festival be without outdoor concerts? And we’re looking forward to evenings spent, in the sweet summer air, enjoying the performances of some of South Africa’s top artists. Prime Circle will be performing at the Garden Roots Christmas Carnival on the 15 December and it promises to be a family-friendly day out. SA’s top electronic trio, GoodLuck, take up their official summer residency in Plettenberg Bay from the 16th December and the lawn of the Beacon Isle Hotel is their stage every Sunday until January. Finally, Plett Primary School will play host to favourite loop artist, Jeremy Loops on 27th December. There’s also a variety of New Year’s shows and you can find out more here www.pletttourism.com
WATERSPORTS IN PLETT
Where do we begin with watersports in Plettenberg Bay? If you can imagine it, you can probably do it! Stand-up paddling, surfing, scuba diving, swimming, snorkelling, deep sea fishing, kayaking, kite-surfing – Plett is an ocean-lover’s playground! And all this within the sheltering arm of Robberg in our sheltered bay: the warm Indian Ocean, world-class beaches, marine life, sunshine…What more could you possibly need for summer fun? PLEASE NOTE: it is not advisable to swim at beaches not manned by lifeguards, please inquire with our reception.

INTERNATIONAL SPORTING EVENTS
We are very fortunate this year to have not one but two international sporting events over the summer period. Every year, the South African polo industry comes together in Plettenberg Bay for a summer of contests that culminates in the polo event of the year: an international match between the South African team and an invited international team, this year its Ireland. The gorgeous Kurland Polo Estate stretches out welcoming arms to put on a fantastic spectacle of polo, breezy summer fashion, bubbly and more – it’s a summer highlight for all to enjoy. This year, we are fortunate to host the finals of the first Beach Tennis Summer Slam on Central Beach. International players from across the globe will be competing for one of the largest pots in the beach tennis circuit and should prove exciting for spectators. OUR GORGEOUS BLUE FLAG BEACHES
We’ve said it before, but it’s worth repeating: Plettenberg Bay has some of the most gorgeous beaches in the world! Plettenberg Bay boasts a total of six international Blue Flag beaches: Robberg Five, Lookout Beach, The Dunes Beach, Singing Kettle Beach, Keurboomsstrand and Nature’s Valley, and each has something simply unique: views, rock pools, dolphins, rock formations – they’re all worth a visit! PLEASE NOTE: it is not advisable to swim at beaches not manned by lifeguards, please inquire with our reception.
FUN FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY
As if you needed any more convincing that Plett is the place to spend your summer, there’s still more! Our favourite family outings this summer include the Sabrina Love Ocean Challenge, which includes swim, paddle, trail run and an event especially for kids. And the Summer Music Colour Run will bring together colour and music along a five km route that includes three DJ stations, colour stations, giant slide and more! For the family, there is Plett Game Reserve, the incredible animal sanctuaries at SAASA.org (Monkeyland, Birds of Eden and Jukani), the Adventure Land Water Park and much more…
So,0i where will you be spending Summer 2019?
